Role models importance

I very much agree with "TheGinaLeDonne", but I do feel that emmulating someone who has had so much success, and lives a life that seems so selfless, there is a lot to be learnt from I dina, but as we've all mentioned, there is only one, and I guess that's the way we'd all want it to be. Rather Idina as a role model than someone with few ethics, and bad advice to their audience.

I can relate to what you said. Just know that you have the power inside you to inspire other people (like Idina!). The only thing to remember is to believe in yourself so that others can believe in you too. Its cheesy I know but it is true because Idina and other inspirational people were once people who didn't really believe in themselves. So good luck to you!

For all of the youngsters... I'm bestowing some of my wisdom:

"I think it's about embracing who you are... allowing your differences and what makes you unique to make you powerful and beautiful no matter who you are"
-Idina Menzel

She has also said:
"You're not doing anyone any favors if you withhold your talents from the world."

Listen, I know that you guys are young and truly need someone to look up to. The thing is, if you put all of your energy into making yourself into someone you're not, you are going to miss out on discovering all of your own quirks. I mean, even just putting all of your energy into these message boards is a bit detrimental. By trying to emulate someone else you are totally shortchanging yourself from developing your own talents. It's going to take some time; you'll learn. I think Idina is a wonderful role model but by no means would she want tons of girls missing out on defining who they are or developing an autonomy. It is about learning to work with what you've been given. I'm sure Idina would back me up on this.

Oh I wasn't referring to

Oh I wasn't referring to you. It just creeped me out when people said that they are going to get plastic surgery and follow exactly in her footsteps. That crosses the line between admiration and obsession. I hope I wasn't being too harsh. I love Idina and she's inspired me in so many ways!

Plastic surgery?

I've been listening to a lot of these songs, and for the longest time I can't ever remember hearing a comment so strange. If you've ever actually listened to an Idina song then you should know that there is no need to change who you are, and it's everyone else's problem if they don't like you for who you are. But, then I guess, if it's something that you want to do, I shouldn't stand in your way.

REPLY TO: Oh I wasn't referring to

That is definitely creepy. As I said, WE ARE NOT IDINA AND NONE OF US WILL EVER BE HER! I ADMIRE Idina, and I am a little obsessed, but not to the extent where she is all I think about and I want to look exactly like her and be exactly like her. As much as I like Idina, I like being me!

Ok people, Idina is amazing.

Ok people, Idina is amazing. But you can't go into showbiz just cause you want to be exactly like her. With that being said if you actually LOVE showbiz for your own personal reasons you need to pave you own way. Follow your heart whether its theatre, opera, whatever. Or just appreciate how amazing people like Idina are. But it takes a whole lot of talent and backbone to make it. Oh yeah someone else but your mom has to like listening to you.

REPLY TO:Ok people, Idina is amazing.

As much as I would like to do it the "Idina way," I will do show business a different way. Like Idina, I want to perform at weddings and bat mitzvahs, but I would really like to work at Disneyland to get a proper theatre training. I know that other people enjoy hearing me sing than just my family. I hope to get very far. I am a DIFFERENT PERSON than Idina, and so are the rest of us. We can't copy her! That wouldn't be very nice!

Your right

you are right I should be my own person. But it's just that here at home everybody treates me like I am not somebody. Not even my mom. The only thing that is kepping me strong is Idina and everyone at this website. I wasn't going to follow in her exact steps all the way just so, I can have something like her. But at least now I know that is just plain creepy.

I luv you Idina!!!

it is too bad that the people around you treat you like nothing. I am glad Idina is your inspiration. However, you have to remember that you ARE somebody, even if people don't treat you that way. I can relate to that.

Stunning

Idina looks absolutely stunning in the video. I also like the symbolism in stripping off the layers of the dress; it goes along nicely with the message of the song. It's a good first video from this album.

wow

a) What shoes are you wearing, because even though I only saw a glimpse of the heel, they looked GORGEOUS
b) That whole dress unraveling thing is rediculously cool
c) How do you get your hair to have that much volume and not be frizzy? Or, alternatively, how can I get my hair to do that without a team of professionals? ;)
d) Amazing work, as always :)

Well worth the wait!

This is one of the most symbolic videos I have watched. Idina was literally stripping away her insecurities, fears, and doubts and leaving them behind. The more of her dress that she peeled away, the more confident she became in her movements. She went from being alone in a loft to being out in the street with people to being completely liberated on a rooftop.

I also love how Idina starts off looking glamorous and serious in a fabulous dress. This is obviously a representation of how the world sees her. By the end of the video, Idina is smiling in blue jeans and a top that is comprised of the remainder of the dress. This is how she wants to be seen because it's her true self. The self that she and those in her inner circle know. She's essentially saying no matter how the world sees her she is true to herself and remains grounded despite her success. A truly powerful and inspiring message if you ask me! Whoever came up with the concept for this video is an absolute genius!

Cuz I'm shedding my skin so you can see my face.
I need you to know who I am.
